Mirante Dona Marta

Tijuca National Park900 m from Mirante

About 360 meters up, on the road to Corcovado, Mirante Dona Marta offers one of the most complete views of the city — and it is free. It lies within Tijuca National Park, very close to Laranjeiras.

On one side, Botafogo Bay and Sugarloaf appear head-on, like a painting; on the other, the bay, Downtown and Niterói. Looking up, Christ the Redeemer rises atop Corcovado, much closer than it seems.

The lookout is a simple terrace with a low wall and parking space. There is also a helipad used by some scenic flights. It is not a structured attraction: the show is the landscape itself.

The best moment is late afternoon, when the sun turns Sugarloaf and the beaches golden. On clear days you can see all the way to the mountains across the bay.

Tips: access is via a narrow, winding road, so the easiest way is by car or ride-hailing app — arrange the return with your driver. Go during the day, bring water and sunscreen, and keep an eye on your belongings, as at any tourist spot.
