Mirante: a place for taking in the view
In Portuguese, a mirante is a lookout — and the name is no accident. From our rooftop, your gaze sweeps across the roofs of Laranjeiras and lands straight on Corcovado, where Christ the Redeemer opens his arms over the city. In the morning the sun lights up the green slopes; at sunset, Christ stands out against an orange sky.
An open-air pool and a wide window for taking in the view in perfect peace, right in the middle of the city, to the sound of birdsong. Your favorite spot for doing nothing at all, with a view of one of the wonders of the world. And very close to all of Rio’s bohemian life.
Each of the rooms is named after a place that helps tell Rio’s story.

Laranjeiras among the coolest neighborhoods in the world
In September 2026, Britain’s Time Out magazine ranked Laranjeiras 17th in its annual list of the coolest neighborhoods in the world. Its editors weigh food and drink, nightlife, independent businesses, liveability and community, based on nominations from local experts.
The magazine notes that the neighborhood has been an orange grove, an aristocratic retreat and a textile hub before becoming one of Rio’s most charming and cultural areas: tree-lined streets, traditional bars, a Saturday market with live choro, a reopened cinema and bookstore, and acclaimed restaurants. All of it a few minutes’ walk from Mirante.
A perfect day in Laranjeiras, according to Time Out
- The Saturday street market on Rua General Glicério, with oysters, pastel and live choro
- Janela Livraria bookstore and a coffee at Maya Café
- Nizza Rotisseria
- Cine Carioca José Wilker, reopened after 16 years, or sunset at Parque Guinle
- Mercado São José and Praça São Salvador
- Samba at Mirante do Pedrão
